We are delighted to announce that our MP for Aldershot, Leo Docherty, has been appointed Minister of State for Armed Forces! Leo already has plenty of ministerial experience under his belt, following on from when he was Minister for Veterans' Affairs. Having served in the British Army himself, Leo has always had the Armed Forces close to his heart. With Aldershot playing such a fundamental part in the UK's military history and life today, it makes perfect sense for Leo to take up the helm.
One of Leo's first public engagements following this anouncement was a visit to 2 Rangers who are garrisoned in Aldershot. He said:
"I was delighted to visit Aldershot Garrison in my first engagement as Minister for the Armed Forces. During my visit, I received an update from Home Command and met members of the Ranger Regiment to find out more about their work."
Leo has plenty on his plate in the coming months. We wish him all the best with his new portfolio!
