Farnborough, despite its urban location, has a wonderful array of green and open spaces for residents to enjoy.
I recently joined Cove Brook Greenway Group (pictured above) to see first-hand some of their fantastic work. Local volunteers were planting saplings in an area next to a community orchard they are developing. CBGG is a small but enthusiastic group who organise monthly work parties to help keep the area around Cove Brook tidy, attractive and safe for people and wildlife alike.
I also accompanied local Cove and Southwood councillor, Cllr Steve Masterson (pictured below), to see the incredible progress on the new visitor centre and playground at Southwood Country Park. This 57-hectare area of natural green open space in Farnborough will have a new café opening in the Spring and, in the meantime, has a kiosk open daily from 9am to 3pm.
